Referrals & Fees

Referrals

While we commonly receive referrals from General Practitioners (GPs), Paediatricians and school counsellors a referral is not always necessary. Contact our friendly admin staff for further information here.

Medicare Rebates

Medicare rebates are available for psychological treatment delivered by registered Psychologists. By visiting your GP you can obtain a referral under Medicare’s Better Access to Mental Health Care program. This involves your GP preparing a Mental Health Treatment Plan which you will require before seeing a psychologist for treatment.

Under the Better Access initiative those eligible are entitled up to 10 individual sessions in a calendar year (1 January to 31 December) but your GP referral will only cover the first 6 sessions. After 6 sessions your referring doctor will make an assessment to determine whether further sessions are required.

Private Health Insurance

Some private health insurers offer rebates depending on your level of cover. We suggest contacting your provider to check if you are eligible to claim for psychological services.
